I am a self professed Mountain Dew addict. I drink it every day a the office, and I order a bottle every day at lunch. So it gives me great excitement when a new kind is introduced.
Admittedly, the last two Mountain Dew branded drinks have really let me down. Mountain Dew: Pitch Black II really sucked (scroll down to read my full review)...I guess that's what you get with seasonal drinks..and a fucking halloween one at that. AMP also let me down. That was basically Mountain Dew: Red Bull. In came in the pretentious little metal can and everything. I like the concept of more energy in a can, but not when it tastes like you mixed MD with windex.
SO, it gives me great excitement to talk about MOUNTAIN DEW: MDX. This is what AMP should have been. It's an "energy soda" as it is labelled, it comes in a cool bottle, tastes just like regular MD but has lots more POWER. Hell, it's got a little label that reads "fueled by POWER PACK". It's a cheap advertising gimmick, and it doesn't even make sense...but I'll tell you this - I drank a bottle before watching 24 tonight...and it's now 5:30 AM with no sleep and I FEEL GREAT.
Did I mention this shit is so green it's practially radioactive. Nothing says power like radioactivity.
Here is a brief rundown of all the Mountain Dew beverages I've come across so far and my official rating:
Mountain Dew: 10/10
Diet Mountain Dew: Are you kidding, diet is for pansies.
Caffeine Free Mountain Dew: Don't even talk to me if you drink this. 0/10
Mountain Dew Code Red: I'm not black, but it's still an 8/10
Mountain Dew Live Wire: 7/10
Mountain Dew Pitch Black: 4/10
Mountain Dew Pitch Black II: A worse sequel than coke2. 3/10
AMP: 4/10
Mountain Dew MDX: 10/10 How is this stuff even legal. Too much power.

So this morning I needed to get my oil changed. While spending the entire hour wandering around the isles of PEP BOYS... to my UTTER AMAZEMENT they had a modest rack filled with DVDS.
Man, they had :
The Road Warrior
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
Some Dolph Lungren movie with Danny Glover as his cop sidekick
Escape From New York
TANGO AND CASH!
and a bunch of the other best movies ever made. I was so ready to buy them all at the bargain price of 7.33 a piece. The only movie I would have left rot on the shelf was "Point of No Return"..some shitty bridget fonda movie...must have been a mistake it was there. And lets be clear, if I wasn't walking by the motor oil and that hardcore orange handcleaner I never would have noticed these gems at all on the end of the isle.
And as shocking as that is, at the front of the store on the shelf above some bargain RIMS there were WIDESCREEN TELEVISIONS for sale. Yeah I couldn't believe it either.
There's my monthly blog update. Now you can all go to hell.

So lets say you had just enough money in the bank to afford a new flat screen TV (because the current one is 10 yrs old and melting down) or lazer eye surgery (because you are fucking sick to death of contacts)...which one would you choose?
Hmmmm....
Ok, all you blogging assholes let me know what you think...not that your stupid blogging opinions are worth a damn to me. Oh, then you can go blog yourself off a cliff. I'm personally leaning towards the eye surgery though.

Time for a fun little diversion. Those afternoon court shows sure are funny aren't they? Who can guess what the poor ghetto person is saying in this clip?

Not long ago I got the bright idea to create a "friends chart". This would in effect keep track of most of the people I knew and at what level of friendship they were at. Level 1 is a really good friend, and Level 5 equates to that person being dead to me.
As you can see from the above example I charted a few people I met in college. You notice they all were at about zero in 1996 - obviously because I had yet to meet them. It's fascinating to me seeing this as a visual guide and how people move in and out of your life.
Lets take my friend Jeff. He's green on the chart. He lived in my hallway my first year in college. We became good heterosexual friends. I would observe him bringing back whores every weekend and we would have a good laugh over that stuff. I guess you'd call that "male bonding" or something. You can see this peaked in 2000. We were sharing an apartment with another friend (the orange line) and all had a grand ol' time. However, all things end don't they? Soon after he met this girl and next thing you know is they're engaged. Then married. As you can observe on the chart they were obviously married near the end of 2004 and the friendship soon dropped at an even steeper angle . Through some calculations I've determined early 2006 will be the last time I ever talk to him.
Now the bredstik guys are the brown line. I barely talked to them in college and we didn't really know each other that well (until I killed sutter's comic strip character in my own comic strip in the school paper - long story). So you can see we were level 3 friends at the end of 2000 and became ALMOST level 2 friends while a few of us worked together in the same office. Since we were all laid off they've dropped down to almost level 4. Yeah, fuck those guys. Who needs em. Still, I forecast we'll never quite fall out of touch since I plan on always bothering them for their technical knowledge and such.
So there you go. I think everybody should keep a friend chart. Sure it's almost as gay as a blog, but I told you to do it so therefore it's a good idea.
